Accounts & Passwords

KU accounts are issued to all university faculty, staff, and students. Each one is provided with a username and password necessary to access KU’s desk space, E-mails, and provided applications, that support the university’s main learning and teaching process.

Account owners are responsible for any improper or illegal activity that occurs on their accounts. These activities include, but are not limited to, harassment of others through electronic communication and use of university resources for business purposes. Therefore, account owners should not share their passwords with anyone for any reason.

Security

KU protects its Network and computers by using an up-to-date firewall and computers anti-virus to make sure that its students, faculty, and staff can work in a safe environment.


IT Help Desk

The ICT Department in Kingdom University provides an online IT Help Desk service to allow you to log any type of request or incident.

To send an E-mail to IT Help Desk:

  • Open your outlook (e-mail)
  • Open a new message
  • On the sender field type ithelpdesk@ku.edu.bh
  • Give the incident a name in the subject field
  • In the email body type your request or incident details
  • Send the email
  • You will receive an automatic email with a ticket number for tracking purposes.
  • ICT team will review your ticket & will contact you shortly.

E-mail (Office 365 Applications)

Office 365 contains a bouquet of Microsoft office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, One Drive, SharePoint, Calendar, Yammer, Delve, and Tasks, plus a host of other classroom tools.

The E-mail service is considered an important means of communication between you and any member of the university and students, make sure that you can access it and check your mailbox frequently for important and interesting bulletins.

Form of Email:

  • Student ID@ku.edu.bh
  • Employee ID@ku.edu.bh

To access your E-mail for the first time:

  • You will receive your Student ID along with your password from the Registration Department.
  • Go to the link: office.com
  • Sign into Microsoft 365 with your KU account with your password like you normally do.
  • Choose Next.
  • Select verification method (Phone)
  • Select country > Enter Your Phone Number > Text Me
  • Type the code sent to you through text message to your mobile device > Verify
  • Click Finish.

To reset your E-mail password:

    • Go to office.com > Click sign in
    • Enter your email
    • Click forgot my password
    • Enter the characters in the picture
    • Click next
      – enter your complete mobile phone number
    • “You will receive a text message with a verification code which can be used to reset your password”
    • Enter new password > confirm new password > Finish
    • Passwords should contain: Uppercase letters: A-Z, Lowercase letters: a-z, Numbers: 0-9 & Symbols: ~`!@#$%^&*()_-+={[}]|\:;”‘<,>.?/.

    Note: Once you reset your password, you will need to log in again to all your devices

To Configure Office 365 on your iPhone:

To configure your university E-mail into your iPhone mobile, follow the below steps:

  • Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add account.
  • Select ‘exchange’.
  • Type your login information as required and click ‘next’ for each step.
  • Tap ‘Save’ in the top right corner of your screen.

To Configure Office 365 on your Android:

To configure your university E-mail into your android mobile, follow below steps:

  • Go to Play Store.
  • In the search box, type (Outlook), then click install
  • After the installation process is finished, you will be prompted to ‘Sign in’ to your Account, enter your E-mail address (Student ID@ku.edu.bh) and your password.

The applications that are including at Office 365:

  • Word.
  • Excel.
  • Teams
  • PowerPoint.
  • Outlook.
  • OneNote.
  • One Drive (1TB disk space).
  • SharePoint.
  • Calendar.
  • Yammer, Delve.
  • Tasks, and others.

Microsoft Authenticator

Multifactor authentication provides additional security.

 Here’s how to set it up.


Microsoft Teams

Use Microsoft Teams to join the class from your desktop or on the web, on your iOS, Android, tablet, or laptop device.

Sign into Teams:

  • tap the Teams icon.
  • Sign in with your KU email and password.
  • Select Calendar  to see your class teams.
  • Find the class team you want then select Join.

See all your meetings in the Calendar

  • In the Teams application, select the teams tab from the sidebar, then click on the course.
  • Click to see details of the meeting.
  • Click on add to calendar > Accepted.
  • Check your Calendar.

Learning Management System (LMS)

It is a Moodle base system that is used for distributing and sharing course materials with a set of assessments and communication tools between the teachers and their students.

To login to LMS system:

  1. Go to the link: Kingdom University LMS (ku.edu.bh)
  2. Click on Login which is located on the top right of your screen.
  3. Click on login using Microsoft office 365.
  4. Enter your Full E-mail Address.
  5. Enter your password.
  6. You will receive a text message with a verification code.
  7. Enter the verification code to complete the sign in.
  8. You will be redirected to the LMS system.

If you know your Username & Password, follow below steps:

  1. Go to the link: Kingdom University LMS (ku.edu.bh)
  2. Click on Login which is located on the top right of your screen.
  3. Click on Login using Microsoft Office 365.
  4. Enter your username “your Full E-mail Address”.
  5. Enter your password.
  6. You will be redirected to LMS system.
  7. To view your current semester courses, on the home page you will find the list of the registered courses in the current semester.

To Submit Your Assignment Using LMS System:

  1. With the LMS system you will be able to submit your Assignment and Homework as follows:
    1. Save your answer in Word, PDF, or any other format on your PC.
    2. Enter your course.
    3. Click on the Homework or Assignment Button.
    4. Click on add submission.
    5. Upload your homework by dragging and dropping the homework document inside the box with the arrow or click on add icon on the left side of the box, then click on upload a file, then locate your document, and upload it.
    6. Save changes.
    7. You will receive a confirmation E-mail about your submission.

To view your Grade Book & Progress Reports:

With the LMS system, you will be able to see your grades from the course grades report and track your progress during the semester through the report (Student Academic Progress Report) inside the Reports Block which is on the top right side of the course page.

To attempt online exams through the LMS system:

  1. Enter the course.
  2. Click on the online quiz link.
  3. Click attempt online exam now.
  4. Check your remaining time.
  5. Answer all the questions.
  6. Review the summary of the attempt.
  7. Click submit all and finish.

SIS System

SIS is a self-service portal that allows the faculty and students to do some tasks on behalf of the Registrar such as online registration for the courses, viewing attendance percentages, viewing Mid & Final exams schedules, Semester Schedule, Online Payment, Transcript, Study Plan, Course & Instructor Evaluation, etc…

How to login to SIS:

  1. Go to: https://sis.ku.edu.bh
  2. Enter your Full E-mail Address.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. You will receive a text message with a verification code.
  5. Enter the verification code to complete the sign in.
  6. You will be redirected to the SIS system.

Computer Labs

KU University has four computer labs that are allocated on the Mezzanine, 2nd and 4th floors. The computer labs are classified by their usage, as follows:

1.   Computer Lab (CM L01)

The applications in its workstations are as following: –

2.   Computer Lab (C4 L15)

This Lab is used mainly but not limited to Business College programs. In addition, it is used for other College’s teaching programs and by students.

Staff Facility

Each staff in the university, equipped with the IT facilities according to their need to perform their duties, with the following: –

  • Computer
  • Internet & Wi-Fi.
  • Access to the shared copier & scanners and/ or printer if needed.
  • Access to HRMS, SIS & ERP (depend on the duties), intranet portal.
  • For faculty, an access to SIS self-service portal, LMS system and Turnitin accounts.
  • Work shared folders in Sharepoint.
  • Office 365 account.
  • IP telephone & voice mail services.
  • Headset

Anti-plagiarism

The Anti-plagiarism software used at the university is the Turnitin which is an annual subscription that is used to safeguard the university’s papers from misconducting use. In addition, the university uses the Turnitin grading tool which is integrated with the LMS assignments for easily using by the student and instructor.


Data Center

The university data center contains a Close Control Unit (CCU) that is used to control the temperature and humidity of the server room in order to keep the servers on a good working environment. Also, it has a fire suppression system to be used in case of fire.  The doors are fire rated doors with a control access system placed. The server room containing two doors for safety matters.


Digital Signage

The University has 10 displays where are located on the following locations: –

  • 1x LED Screen in the Canteen hall
  • 1x LED Screen in the Reception hall
  • 1x Totem in the Reception hall
  • 1x Screen in the Admission and Registration corridor
  • 1x Totem in the Library
  • 1x Screens in every floor of the campus (Mez,1st,2nd 3rd and 4th)

Classroom Facilities

24 teaching classrooms including 6 drawing studio, 4 labs and 2 workshops are equipped with a fit to purpose computer and an interactive projector.


Blended Learning Classroom Facilities

16 classrooms are equipped with Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam for Teams Video Conferencing, Recording, and Streaming purpose.


Internet & Wi-Fi Facility

The university provides fiber internet connectivity with a dedicated bandwidth of 75 Mbps that is connected on all the offices, computer labs, classrooms, and workshops and a backup line of 75mbps through microwave. The university is covered with free Wi-Fi service of a dedicated bandwidth of 75 Mbps for the students and staff.


University Network Infrastructure

The University network contains redundant firewalls (Model: CISCO 5508 firepower) that includes intrusion prevention, anti-malware, URL filtering, FTD (Fire threat defense).

The firewall connected by fiber optic cable uplinks to IDFs 10GB switches (Layer3 Dell) that are providing access to devices (computers, Access points, IP Telephone, printers, etc…), speeding up the connectivity between devices in the local network (2x CISCO 3850 as core switch, 2 x CISCO 3650 as server farm switch, CISCO 2960 with 48-24 ports located on the university floors). A CCTV system with segregated network is used for surveillance monitoring in the campus

The university is fully covered with CISCO Meraki MR52 access points, with two SSID (Public Network, Internal Network), that will be enhanced later on to BYOD.
