Kingdom University has achieved an unprecedented technological and academic milestone through the outstanding performance of its female students on the international stage, as a team from the College of Information Technology successfully secured the Grand Prize at the Middle East and Central Asia regional level in the Innovation Track of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026. This well-deserved victory came after fierce competition against 24 teams representing top innovative student talents from 19 countries, with the university’s project emerging as the best integrated AI-powered technological solution.
The winning project, “ResQ-AI,” is an advanced intelligent emergency response triage system designed as a fully integrated ecosystem that connects ambulances, smart city infrastructure, and hospital emergency rooms. The innovation stands out for its ability to enhance response times for critical cases through “green wave” technology, which automatically clears traffic routes for ambulances, in addition to integrating sign language and an intelligent assistant to ensure inclusivity—transforming ambulances into smart units that are connected in real time with hospitals to save lives and reduce medical congestion.
On this exceptional occasion, Professor Dr. Hassan bin Rafdan Al-Hajhoj, President of Kingdom University, affirmed that this achievement represents a milestone in the university’s history and reflects the quality and efficiency of the educational system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that the students’ attainment of the regional Grand Prize is the result of the university’s innovation-driven environment and a clear testament to the ability of national talents to excel in advanced technology and artificial intelligence, in line with national digital transformation visions.
Dr. Al-Hajhoj also praised the exceptional efforts of the team, composed of students Sarah Mohammed Sharif, Ria Sarfraz, and Fatima Nazeera, under the distinguished supervision of Ms. Marwa Asim Aifan. He explained that the team not only secured first place at the national level in the initial phase but also demonstrated global excellence by qualifying to represent the region in the final global competition, where they will present their innovation before leading technology experts and international industry leaders—continuing their journey of excellence and proudly raising the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the world’s most prominent technological forums.
