Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the General Sports Authority (GSA) and Kingdom University, aimed at supporting the Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation Initiative.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, the CEO of the GSA, and Hassan Rafdan AlHajhoj, the President of Kingdom University.
The signing ceremony was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA Deputy Chairman; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Jumaa, the education minister; and Dr. Diana Abdul Karim Al Jahromi, the Secretary General of the Higher Education Council.
HH Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the GSA continues to work on implementing initiatives to develop the sports sector and has concluded partnership agreements with institutions, including universities, to support athletes and encourage academic development.
His Highness commended Kingdom University’s contribution for the Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation Initiative, which aims to motivate and encourage young athletes by offering them educational opportunities.
HH Shaikh Khalid emphasized the role of education in driving the development of all sectors in the kingdom, including the sports sector. He added that GSA focuses on education as part of career development for Bahraini athletes.
