Kingdom University in Bahrain, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), through its AWS Academy initiative, announced the collaboration on the preparation of BSc in Computer Science in the College f IT at Kingdom students for entry-level cloud technology jobs. Starting in September 2022, Kingdom University will start offering BSc in Computer Science and will provide access to the AWS Academy curriculum to all the Computer Science students, including the AWAS Academy’s Cloud technology courses will be integrated into Kingdom university Computer Science courses with the goal of preparing students with employability skills they need to get hired in market.

AWS Academy provides higher education institutions with a free, ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum that prepares students to pursue industry-recognized certifications and in-demand cloud jobs. AWS curriculum helps educators stay at the forefront of AWS Cloud innovation so that they can equip students with the skills they need to get hired in one of the fastest-growing industries. AWS Academy offers students and educators access to self-paced content that introduces cloud computing and lets them build on real-world technologies such as artificial intelligence, gaming, the Internet of Things (IoT), and more.

Kingdom University (KU) is a private university offering high-quality education and training, dedicated to providing academic excellence, relevant and measurable quality research, and active community engagement and continuous education. The aim of this collaboration is that Kingdom University wants to use AWS cloud technologies to inspire, educate, and provide real-world, hands-on, project-based learning opportunities for students to prepare them for future jobs.

Kingdom University’s Computer Science program is designed to expose students to innovative technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, user experience, and cyber security. The hands-on experience, new skills, and AWS Certifications students will prepare the students to join the local technology workforce in Bahrain and GCC. AWS Academy works with the Department of Computer Science at Kingdom University to provide their students with internships, guidance, and access to AWS Certifications. This collaboration between Kingdom University and AWS Academy, Amazon’s global initiative, aims to provide the Computer Science students and educators with the resources needed to accelerate cloud-related learning endeavors.

Through AWS Academy, students and faculty members in the Computer Science BSc program at Kingdom University have access to content, AWS Promotional Credit, and programs developed to skill up for cloud careers in growing fields. Teachers have access to training resources and the community of cloud experts to assist with teaching, including access to open-source content for their courses.

For the past five years, LinkedIn named cloud computing as the top hard skill companies are seeking, and the demand for entry-level cloud talent continues to grow. To help close this gap and ensure Kingdom University students have the skills they need to pursue cloud roles after graduation, Kingdom University collaborated with AWS. The contents of AWS Academy courses will be integrated with the BSc in Computer Science course at Kingdom University, which will ensure that the students will learn the top cloud skills to prepare them for entry-level cloud careers.
