Fractal Design Workshop at Kingdom University

The Department of Architecture Engineering organized a design workshop for students. The workshop aims to inculcate creative thinking in 3D form

right from the conceptual stage. The event was open to all architecture schools in Bahrain to participate, thus create a better understanding and cross learning culture among the schools. The aim of this workshop was to train young minds in creative thinking and active learning, to develop skills on material analogy & basic structural understanding and work on a 3D physical realm, to develop skills on process documentation, to develop skills on communication and presentation and to share knowledge and to collaborate with other participants The workshop was conducted by Mrs Fatima Takbir, Director of the Design Aware, Hydrabad. She was a graduate from The Architectural Association School of Architecture, London and has been involved in teaching in Architecture Academia. She has been conducting similar workshops on Fractal Design in the region and creates awareness on design among the young design students. The event was held on 3 days, Introduction to workshop, presentation on Fractals Workshop Series (2011- 2016), initial exploratory period, Phase 1 begins. Then Evaluation and redirection, Phase 2, group evaluation/ discussion, briefing of rules, selection of final system, guidance for bringing forth a meaningful outcome, teamwork. Finally, Large-scale component aggregation and installation, resulting in an exhibition to be retained at the campus, composition of panels, printing and exhibition
