Professional Development Seminars Series at the Kingdom University Best Practices in Teaching and Learning

The Kingdom University organized the first faculty professional development seminar for the second semester of the academic year 2016-17 on the 31st of January 2017. The seminar title was Best Practices in teaching and Learning. Four papers were presented. The first paper was an Introduction in which he described some of the recent trends in teaching methods, such as focus on student learning assessed by learning outcomes achievements, online lecture with statistical feedback, flipped classroom, blended learning and technology use. The second paper how to effectively use the Learning Management System (LMS) as a tool to improve teaching by making use of the data provided by the LMS on the students’ progress. The third paper talked about the different methods of pedagogy used in teaching courses in the college of business. The fourth paper presented the experience of the speaker in using role playing teaching method as part of one the courses in the college of law and the effect of this method on enhancing students’ learning. The final talk was about lessons learnt from a conference on quality in higher education.
